About

Altos Del Mar

At the Altos Del Mar Residence, a 5,011-square-foot family home in Miami Beach, Florida, sculptural furniture sets the character of every room. SDH Studio built a calm, cohesive backdrop of pale limestone floors, textured stone walls and warm, finely grained oak paneling, then layered in sculptural seating, smoked glass and dramatic veined marble. Tall glazing behind fine curtains keeps every room bright and open to the tropical landscape.

From the foyer, a white helical stair rises beside a cylindrical glass elevator framed in dark bronze, while tropical planting softens the stone-clad wall. Ahead, an oak-framed niche holds a floating console and slim cylindrical pendants, with a rounded bouclé lounge chair resting beyond. Framed portrait photography lines the hallway leading deeper into the home.

In the living room, a low cream sectional anchors a textured shag rug, joined by a rounded moss-green bouclé chair, a glass cocktail table on warm wood legs and sculptural marble side tables. Abstract artwork set against oak paneling adds quiet contrast, while sheer curtains filter views of palms and mature trees, washing the room in soft, even light.

Entertaining happens in the great room. A glass-fronted, backlit wine wall displays bottles in a floating grid, flanked by oak and marble shelving. Beside it, a long bar clad in sweeping, multicolored marble sits beneath bronze-framed smoked-glass cabinetry. Here, a deep white sectional and curved black velvet lounge chairs face a fluted bronze side table, while a dark stone dining table surrounded by slender upholstered chairs sits beneath a linear suspended fixture.

The kitchen pairs a monolithic waterfall island in soft gray quartzite with an attached glass dining ledge and woven houndstooth chairs. A matching quartzite backsplash glows beneath smoked-glass upper cabinets, while full-height oak millwork conceals storage and integrated appliances behind flush, handle-free panels. A bronze-lined display niche adds a final touch of warmth.

The open family room extends from the kitchen. A backlit oak media wall combines illuminated open shelving, a fabric-wrapped panel and a long marble plinth echoing the bar beyond. A graceful wall sconce and framed landscape artwork finish the wall. A low pale sectional faces the wall, joined by burgundy lounge chairs and an arching floor lamp near the windows.

Limestone, oak and marble form a quiet backdrop so the furniture can carry the personality, from the moss-green bouclé chair to the curved black velvet lounge chairs. Through the glass, Miami Beach’s palms complete each room.
