See the Bal Cross Project here
We are beyond excited to announce that our design for the Bal Cross Residence has been selected for the front cover of Florida Design Magazine’s Miami Edition this month. The extraordinary property in Bal Harbour also features as a ten-page spread inside the magazine.
The article gives an exclusive look into the influences behind the unique design, and highlights the design choices made by both architecture and interior design teams in the collaboration between SDH Studio and Mexico-City based Sulking Askenazi Design Studio.
Jeanne de Lathouder, the author of the article, writes about the inspiration behind the design and the bespoke elements that speak directly to the home’s streamlined aesthetic.
The owners expressed a strong desire for a modern Balinese style home, so we pared a variety of woods with bronze colored steel columns and bespoke design elements with detailed embellishments to the facade.
A visual connection to nature is abundant in every space, from the social areas with oak ceiling beams reminiscent of a garden pergola to the second-level family room’s reading nook framing beautiful garden views. The residence itself is surrounded by verdant trees and native foliage with plenty of outdoor space for the owners’ children to play freely and safely.
