The language is modernist and disciplined. Thin, flat roof planes project far beyond the walls, their undersides lined in warm timber and their edges finished in a slim dark fascia, casting deep shade across every elevation. Beneath them, walls alternate between pale, coursed stone and smooth white stucco, and planters built into the second-floor ledges let greenery spill down the facade, softening the horizontal lines. At the front, a pair of angled dark steel columns carries a low canopy, and a dense row of trees along the street reduces the house to fleeting glimpses from the road.
Arrival unfolds in measured stages. A tall timber pivot door opens into a double-height foyer, where a clerestory draws daylight down a wood-paneled wall. Beyond it, the stair becomes the home’s sculptural center: open timber treads cantilever from a textured stone wall, screened by fine vertical timber slats and rising above a small interior garden planted at its base. The grove outside finds its echo indoors.
The ground floor gathers kitchen, living and bar into one continuous public room that opens fully onto a covered terrace, its timber ceiling an extension of the roof’s deep overhangs. In the kitchen, a long white marble island faces a ribbon window set at counter height, framing a strip of garden beneath walnut-toned cabinetry. The family room turns more intimate, anchored by a wall of richly veined green-gold stone and a backlit wine display. In the living room, full-height openings frame palms on either side of a pale stone wall.
To the rear, the plan splits into two volumes around a long, rectangular pool. The main residence holds the living spaces and bedrooms; a separate single-story fitness pavilion, clad in dark vertical slats beneath its own floating roof, anchors the far end of the pool, with an outdoor kitchen set against a stone wall between them. Upstairs, the primary suite opens onto a private terrace overlooking the pool. Every element returns to the same idea: a house that shades, frames and defers to the grove around it, rather than competing with it.
